Severe Typhoon Dolphin is expected to make landfall along the coast of Fujian and Zhejiang between Sunday evening and the morning of Monday, with local authorities on high alert.
Winds intensified in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, Saturday morning.
The local container terminal has completed evacuations and reinforced heavy machinery as well as empty containers.
On an offshore island in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, workers were evacuated in batches this morning.
Fujian has activated a Level II typhoon emergency response. Nineteen coastal ferry routes have been suspended, and vessels have returned to port to shelter from the wind.
The National Meteorological Center predicts heavy rainstorms will persist across Fujian, Taiwan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and other regions from Saturday through next Wednesday. It has issued the second-highest typhoon warning level, urging the public to take precautionary windproofing measures early.
