Anime festival opens to large crowd

The five-day Hong Kong Animation and Comics Festival kicks off at the Convention and Exhibition Center in Wan Chai on Friday.

Rare animation sketches and character models are on display. Hundreds queued overnight outside. Some visitors have planned to spend the whole day at the venue.

This year's edition has expanded from two to three halls, with total floor space up 10%

from last year, marking it the largest ever, capable of holding up to 38,000 people.

Around 200 exhibitors and nearly 700 individual vendors are taking part.

However, some exhibitors

worry that the weekend typhoon could hurt sales.
