Ukraine president reshuffles top officials after protests in Kyiv

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fires General Oleksandr Syrskyi

as commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces,

following days of protests in Kyiv and other cities

nationwide demanding his removal.

This as three people were killed and 13 injured in a Russian bomb

attack on Zaporizhzhia Tuesday.

In his nightly address, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy says he has appointed

Mykhailo Drapatyi as the new army chief,

and thanks Syrskyi for his contributions to "Ukraine's

strong position to the front."

Zelenskyy also says he spoke to the ousted minister Mykhailo Fedorov

and offered him a worthy leadership position in the government.

But it wasn't clear if Fedorov accepted the offer.

The Ukrainian leader says he made the decision after a series

of meetings with military commanders.

Hundreds took to the streets in Kyiv for the fifth day on Monday protesting

against Zelenskyy's government reshuffle

and the dismissal of defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

This as at least three people were killed and 13 injured

following a daytime Russian guided aerial bomb attack on

Zaporizhzhia on Tuesday.

According to the local military administration

Russia was targeting residential areas, and one of the bombs struck

a nine-storey residential building,

causing fire and destroying several nearby cars.
