Foreign Minister meets with European Parliament group

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with a visiting European Parliament delegation, just before his departure for the Philippines to attend the China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

The cross-party delegation,led by European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman David McAllister, arrived on Tuesday morning at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Wang stressed that the European Parliament holds significant influence over EU foreign policy, adding that China and Europe are partners, not rivals, and share similar or identical stances on major issues.

The European side reiterated that the EU highly values relations with China and opposes "decoupling".
