Cathay Pacific says one of its flights returning from Tokyo to Hong Kong made a tail strike while landing in the city last Friday.
No one was injured.
Flight CX509, an Airbus A330, carried out a go-around because of the poor weather conditions before the aircraft's tail hit the runway. The plane later landed safely.
Separately, after a Cathay flight to London briefly lost contact with air traffic control over Romania on Saturday, the Civil Aviation Department says initial findings suggest the flight remained on its approved route and it has ordered the airline to review the aircraft's systems and exchanges with air traffic controllers.
CX says internal probes are underway including interviews with crew members.
