HK retirees in Fujian & Guangdong see more ease in subsidy remittance

Starting today, Hong Kong elderly retiring in Fujian and Guangdong provinces can apply for direct cross-border remittance services to receive their government cash assistance.

They include beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance and the Old Age Living Allowance and the Old Age Allowance under the Guangdong Scheme and the Fujian Scheme of the Social Security Allowance Scheme.

They can receive their assistance payments in Hong Kong dollars directly remitted by the Social Welfare Department into their HKD accounts at designated Mainland banks free of charge.

The cross-border remittance service is a measure proposed in the Policy Address last year to improve disbursement arrangements for portable cash assistance.
