Standby Signal No. 1 to remain tonight and at first Saturday

The Observatory says the Standby Signal No. 1 will remain in force tonight and at first tomorrow.

Affected by the outer rainbands of Tropical Storm Maysak, many areas in Hong Kong experienced heavy rain and strong gusts this afternoon.

The Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal was issued for two hours.

A large tree collapsed next to Leung King Station on the Tuen Mun Light Rail, causing a temporary disruption to Light Rail services.

Unless Maysak intensifies significantly and adopts a track closer to the coast of Guangdong, the Observatory says the chance of issuing the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 is relatively low.
