US reportedly seeking to ban Chinese energy inverters

Fresh off the ban on drones and routers manufactured in China, the US is reportedly seeking to ban Chinese energy inverters, with Washington raising concerns they could be used by China to disrupt the US power grid.

Beijing calls Washington's move an abuse of the concept of national security. Energy inverters are essential components for solar panels.

A report by Reuters citing insider information indicates the US Federal Communications Commission is planning to draft a ban on foreign energy inverters owing to concerns of China using the technology to disrupt American energy supply.

The report further says the ban could be announced as soon as later this year.The decision was reportedly influenced by the European Union's earlier ban on public funding for Chinese energy inverters.
