A red mini bus killed one and injured 16 after mounting the pavement outside Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on Sunday. The deceased was a male pedestrian who worked as an inspector at the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.
Police have arrested a 48-year-old driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.
A car camera captures the moment when the mini van mounts the pavement and hits a passerby. The front of the mini van is severely damaged. A police officer goes inside the vehicle to investigate.
Some injured passengers are sitting on the ground as they wait for treatment. One passenger is seen being taken away on a stretcher.
It is understood that the accident happened at around 6pm, when the mini bus was travelling on Argyle Street toward Kwun Tong direction before it suspectedly lost control and crashed into a nearby roadside railing and mounted the pavement.
The mini bus had 14 passengers on board at the time of the crash. Three passersby are also injured, and a 44-year-old man died at Kwong Wah Hospital after being sent there for treatment.
