Phase Two of the Light Public Housing Project at Kai Tak's Olympic Avenue begins occupancy today.
Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho says this project provides former residents of subdivided flats with upward mobility opportunities.
In the occupancy ceremony, Ho hands over the keys and gifts to the residents.
The project is the largest of the 13 light public housing projects. The first and second phases provide 10,300 units in total.
Ho says the average rent for a subdivided unit is 5,500 dollars per month, but the average rent for the light public housing project is just 1,300 dollars, so each family can save an average of 4,200 dollars per month.
