QS, an international higher education analytics organization, has released its world university rankings, with some Hong Kong universities showing significant improvement in their rankings.

Five UGC-funded universities continued to rank among the world's top 100 this year.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong jumped 14 places to 18th.

Together with the University of Hong Kong, which maintained its 11th position globally, this marks the first time two Hong Kong universities entered the global top 20.

Lingnan University surged 120 places to 581st. HKUST rose 11 places to 33rd, while the Hong Kong Polytechnic University rose 4 places to 50th. The private Shue Yan University made its debut on the list.

The Hong Kong SAR Government said that under the grand blueprint of the national "15th Five-Year Plan," Hong Kong's higher education will usher in an unprecedented golden period of opportunity. It will support institutions in building world-class universities and disciplines, deepening Hong Kong's role as an international education hub, and continuing to shine on the world stage while integrating into the overall development of the nation.
