Consumer Council received 1k+ hotel-related complaints last year

The Consumer Council urges the industry to clearly state their terms and conditions to prevent confusion after it received over a thousand complaints related to hotels, guesthouses and booking platforms last year.

The number of complaints surged 34% year-on-year.

Most complaints came from tourists and are related to issues including service quality or booking changes and cancellations.

The consumer watchdog reminds consumers to verify booking details before making payments.

If accommodations do not match the references shown on booking platforms, consumers should take photos to facilitate compensation.
