Former Deputy Commissioner of Police Albert Yuen has been appointed Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene. He will assume service tomorrow.
Yuen joined the police force in 1986 and spent much of his career in criminal investigations. He later rose through the ranks, including serving as the Superintendent in the Commercial Crime Bureau and Assistant Commissioner of Police.
He retired in 2023 and was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star that same year.
Yuen is the second former senior policeman appointed to a government directorate role in recent months.
The government launched an open recruitment earlier this year for the post of Director of Information Services with John Tse, who was also part of the police force, being appointed.
