Trump's name taken off the Kennedy Center in Washington DC

US President Donald Trump's name has finally been taken down from the Kennedy Center in Washington following a court order.

This as another federal judge ordered the Trump administration to restore sites changed under an executive order calling for the nation's museums, parks and landmarks to not display elements that "inappropriately

disparage Americans past or living."

By adding the Trump name to some of America's iconic landmarks the court says it shows the plaintiffs efforts are meant to rewrite the nation's history with a white-out pen.

The curtain may have come down for US President Donald Trump at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC but the tarp stays up for now. The executive director and COO for the performing arts venue, told a federal court Saturday that the institution had complied with an order to remove Trump's name from the building's facade.

But for onlookers who gathered on the plaza in front of the centre over the past day hoping to witness a dramatic moment symbolising the limits of Trump's power, it was virtually impossible to see whether the signage was gone.

Stephen Sloan, The Associated Press said "You can't really tell, but the president's name has been on that building for much of the past year, and it was taken down in the middle of the night. If you go up to that tarp and peek in through a crack, you can tell that the president's name that has been on that building, since about December, is not there anymore. But the tarp is here, which makes it hard to see from, the vantage point from, much of the neighbourhood here."

The Kennedy Center's leadership had dug in against a federal judge's order to erase Trump's name from the building. Two courts rejected the institution's last-minute request retain Trump's name pending an appeal. After severe thunderstorms raked Washington on Friday evening, the Kennedy Center sought one more extension before complying with a noon Saturday deadline.
