One person killed in Texas shooting

A shooting in the US city of Midland, Texas has left one person dead

and 10 others injured.

Police said the suspect in the shooting that killed one person is also dead. The shooter had been locked in a standoff Friday morning with police hours after the shooting began.

He barricaded himself in an abandoned veterinary clinic where he was eventually found dead. Police used a robot and drone footage from inside the building to confirm the shooter was dead. The suspect was later identified as 45-year-old Victor Mata Villarreal already being sought by authorities.

Friday's standoff happened about one kilometre from where shots were fired at a police officer on Wednesday.
