Honda recalls nearly 900,000 vehicles in North America due to a rear suspension defect that may cause drivers to lose control.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) says about 880,000 Honda vehicles are affected, including certain batches of the Pilot and Passport SUVs, primarily sold in North America.

Honda estimates only 1% of the recalled vehicles actually have the defect. As a remedy, Honda and Acura dealers will inspect the rear subframe and install a reinforcememt kit if necessary, or repair or replace the rear subframe components at no cost to vehicle owners.

As of May, Honda had received no warrantly claims or reports of injury or death related to the problem.
