Following talks in Washington, Israeli and Lebanese officials confirm they have agreed to a deal to create a number of "pilot" security zones inside Lebanon from which Hezbollah militants would be banned.
Israeli Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter says the two countries are determined to ensure the agreement proceeds and that it will be implemented immediately and quickly.
The past months saw intensified violence between Israel and Lebanon.
The United Nations this week contemned Israel for its increasingly aggressive advances in Lebanon, which included attacks nearby a hospital as well as the seizing of a castle.
