Police busted a drug trafficking ring that sold cannabis through social media platforms.

10 people were arrested.

In the operation, officers seized about 78 kilograms of suspected cannabis and cannabis-related products with an estimated market value of over 16 million dollars.

The Narcotics Bureau of the force said it identified a Telegram chat group in December last year that frequently posted ads promoting products, including cannabis-infused cookies and sweets.

Undercover officers later identified the group's operational base in Mong Kok and a drug storage warehouse in Fo Tan.

On Wednesday, officers arrested eight men and two women aged between 22 and 42 in connection with the case.

Nine of them were charged with conspiracy to traffic in dangerous drugs and trafficking in dangerous drugs.

The remaining suspect has been released on bail pending further probes.
