Gaza's Rafah crossing reopens, facilitates medical evacuation and return of Palestinians

A group of Palestinians arrived Sunday morning at the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing to return to the Gaza strip.

The crossing between Gaza and Egypt is scheduled to resume operations, allowing the medical evacuation of patients and sick from the strip, and the return of Palestinians who completed their treatment in Egypt during the war.

The crossing was reopened on Feb 2 as part of a ceasefire deal that stopped the war between Israel and Hamas.

Since then, only dozens were allowed to travel on the two sides amid reports of delays and allegations of mistreatment by Israeli forces and their allied militia in Gaza.

Amid confusion around the reopening, the Rafah crossing was closed Friday and Saturday.
