The Transport and Logistics Bureau will convert 15 intersections into diagonal pedestrian crossings this year, reducing pedestrian distance and time by approximately 30%.

One of the proposed sites for a diagonal pedestrian crossing is the intersection opposite Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin.

The intersection connects the bus terminus, the MTR station, and the hospital's main entrance, and many pedestrians prefer this convenient option.

Residents said many people are already crossing diagonally. If diagonal crossings are designated, everyone can cross legally, and I support it.

The Transport and Logistics Bureau tested diagonal pedestrian crossings at two intersections in Tsim Sha Tsui and Shatin two years ago. The latest proposal is to expand this to 15 intersections.

There are two on Hong Kong Island, located in Kennedy Town and North Point.

There are five in Kowloon, located in Cheung Sha Wan, To Kwa Wan, Kwun Tong, etc. There are eight in the New Territories, distributed in Tuen Mun, Fanling, Tai Po, and Tseung Kwan O.

Completion is expected to begin in phases this year.
