The police set up roadblocks around the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal area and, with the assistance of drones, cracked down on illegally modified vehicles and illegal street racing activities.
Last night, the police stopped and checked about 40 vehicles, including private cars and motorcycles.
Among them, four private cars and six motorcycles were suspected of being illegally modified, in violation of the Road Traffic (Construction and Maintenance of Vehicles) Regulations.
The police impounded the relevant vehicles and sent them to the Kowloon Bay Vehicle Examination Centre for inspection. The police also issued Vehicle Defect Reports to the drivers of 10 vehicles involved.
The authorities emphasized that they will continue to take traffic enforcement actions to ensure smooth traffic, safeguard public safety, and raise road users’ safety awareness.
