The U.S. military launched an attack on members of the “Islamic State” in Nigeria, West Africa.

The U.S. Department of Defense released footage stating that, under President Trump’s instructions, it carried out a powerful and lethal strike against the “Islamic State” in northwestern Nigeria.

On Thursday, Trump posted online that “Islamic State” terrorists in Nigeria have long targeted innocent Christians for slaughter, to an extent not seen for many years — perhaps even centuries.

He added that he had warned “Islamic State” that if they did not stop killing Christians, they would pay a price — and that price has now come due.

The U.S. military said the operation was approved by the Nigerian government and that multiple “Islamic State” members were killed.

Reuters, citing analysis from the American Enterprise Institute, reported that the U.S. is rebuilding its deployment capabilities in Africa and is strengthening aerial surveillance over Nigeria.
