In Nigeria, 24 schoolgirls have been rescued after armed men kidnapped them from their high school in Kebbi state in the northwest part of the country. Twenty-five school girls were abducted on November 17 but one escaped.
This as 303 schoolchildren were kidnapped in the remote community of Papiri Friday of which 50 have escaped.
Is there another person? No. Just 24 of you? Yes.
The school girls free after being rescued, but President Bola Tinubu did not give any details about how they were rescued.
The girls were abducted November 17 from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Kebbi state's Maga town. The school principal said 25 were kidnapped but one girl escaped.
In the small community of Papiri, more than 300 school children and staff were abducted Friday from Saint Mary's School in north-central Niger state Fifty of which escaped over the weekend.
One parent points out blood stains on the ground where he says the kidnapping took place.
This woman pleads for the children to be brought back. "Every day I'm depressed, no food every day crying and fasting. Bring back our children," she says.
The parents have been gathering at the school compound awaiting the release of the rest of the captives.
This man said, "Some of the children escaped by the will of God but my son did not."
Chinedu Asadu of The Associated Press said: "Now we have no group yet claiming responsibility for any of these attacks and authorities have not announced any arrests made so far. However, it's not the first time armed gangs are attacking schools in northern Nigeria. Back in 2014, we had Boko Haram insurgents attacking a school in Chibok village in Borno State, seizing 276 girls. Nearly 100 of those girls are still held captive to date."
