大家好，有一首60年代的歌曲，時至今天還有很多人唱，正是Ben King的Stand by Me。

原曲是一首聖詩，是描述人與人之間的愛和互助精神，所以很適合任何年代收聽。

對，不如我們唱一段。我不會害怕，我不會害怕，只要你一直站在我身旁。(No I won't be afraid, oh, I won't be afraid, for as long as you stand, stand by me.)

意思是指，只要你我站在同一陣線，我甚麽都不怕。

To stand配合不同介詞，意思可以很多樣化。To stand by someone是指支持某人，而stand by代表要準備隨時採取行動，請準備隨時採取行動(Please stand by and be prepared to take action anytime)。

Stand for意思是指代表，例如A.S.A.P.代表盡快(A.S.A.P. stands for As Soon As Possible)。To stand in是指替代，例如當大廚不在時，二廚要頂上(When the chef is away, the sous-chef will stand in)。

這兩句to stand up to, to stand up against意思是指挺身對抗，一些不公平的事，我會對抗任何不公平的指責(I will stand up to any unfair accusations)。

To stand someone up是指爽約，廣東話俗稱「甩底」。

我本來跟她有約，但她爽約了(I did have a date with her, but she stood me up)。
