Children under 1.35 metres must use a child restraining device when travelling in private cars starting from November 1st.

The current legislation stipulates that kids only require a child restraining device, such as child safety seats, if they are under three and travel in the front seat of private cars.

Starting from next month, child passengers must use one of those devices in private cars.

Children aged eight or above, or with a height of at least 1.35 metres must either use a restraining device or wear an adult seat belt.

Police may issue a fixed penalty of 230 dollars to offending drivers.
