Nomination period for Legislative Council election opens today

The nomination period for the Legislative Council election opens today.

On the first day of the nomination period, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB), the largest party in the current gislative Council, held a rally in Shatin.

This time, 26 DAB candidates are running, with 14 of the 19 incumbent legislators seeking re-election.

The Federation of Trade Unions is fielding 16 candidates, with seven incumbent legislators seeking re-election.

Current Sai Kung District Councillor Christine Fong Kwok-san, who has run for the Legislative Council five times, has registered to run in the New Territories Southeast District.

For the Election Committee sector, incumbent Councillor Johnny Ng Kit-chong registered to run for re-election on the first day of the nomination period.

The nomination period for the Legislative Council election runs from now until the 6th of next month, with voting taking place on December 7th.
