Legislative Council President Andrew Leung says he will not run in the next election

Legislative Council President Andrew Leung announced today

that he will not run in the Legco election at the end of the year.

He said over the past nine years, he has done his best to lead the legislature in overcoming many difficulties.

He added that Legco has successfully assisted the central authorities and the HKSAR government in overcoming opposition lawmakers' impact

on the council's operations and on the governance of the city.

He also stated that there are many able individuals within Legco, and members of the upcoming legislative body will be able to find the right person to be their next president.
