Police investigate incident where suspect was mistakenly released by auxiliary officers

Police are investigating an incident in which two auxiliary officers allegedly released a suspect by mistake.

Authorities have located the whereabout of the suspect.

Reportedly, a man was arrested on Thursday evening for possessing an offensive weapon.

He allegedly brandished a knife while being drunk.

After being taken to Kwong Wah Hospital for a check-up, he was mistakenly released by two auxiliary officers by mistake.

Police say they take the incident very seriously and follow-up work has continued.

The suspect is a 58-year-old non-ethnic Chinese man who has been granted bail and is required to report to police in mid-October.
