Police investigating Pik Uk prisoner after attack on officer

Police are investigating a male Pik Uk Prison inmate after he attacked a correctional officer in the facility.

The 23-year-old man was sentenced to Pik Uk Prison in Sai Kung earlier this year after he was found guilty of theft.

He suddenly lost his temper this morning and assaulted a correctional officer, while the latter's colleagues rushed over to stop the inmate and called for backup. The officer involved in the attack sustained facial injuries, while the inmate did not appear to suffer from any noticeable injury.

Both were sent to the hospital for treatment.
