Decennial Tai Ping Ching Chiu parade held in Shek O

The decennial Tai Ping Ching Chiu Parade was held today at three Shek O villages.

The parade kicked off at 10:30am at a bamboo theatre near Shek O Beach and made its way to Shek O and Big Wave Bay.

Several children participating in the festivities were seen dressed up as beloved historical and mythical characters including female warrior Mu Guiying, folk deity Nezha and Tang dynasty imperial consort Lady Yang.

During the afternoon, locals organised Cantonese operas and took part in spiritual rituals aimed at warding off plagues.

The activities attracted scores of residents and tourists, with authorities implementing special traffic arrangements that cordoned off parts of the area until 11pm.
