Hong Kong's roadside parking meter system saw a widespread breakdown this morning. The system returned to normal shortly before 12:30 pm after repairs.

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan says operators launched emergency repairs to restore partial service, and urged the submission of a full report within 24 hours. She added that police will temporarily suspend enforcement in affected areas. They include the meters on Kowloon City's Broadcast Driv where parking meters were seen out of service. Similar scenes too in Wan Chai and Yau Ma Tei.

The Transport Department first received reports of the malfunction from the operator at around 8:20 am. Mable Chan says they treat this matter with the utmost seriousness. Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident did not involve cyberattacks, and partial operations have been restored following urgent repairs. Further investigations are underway.
