The tail of the queue reached the San Tin Interchange.
In the buffer zone next to the port, a large number of private cars lined up waiting to cross the border.
Inside Huanggang Port, there was a heavy flow of people preparing to cross the border to Shenzhen.
In Mong Kok, more than 100 people formed a long queue for the cross-boundary bus to Huanggang, the queue had not dissipated by around 2am.
On the same night, there was a concert at the Kai Tak main stadium.
Some tourists said their return journey took longer than expected, while others hoped the frequency of overnight cross-boundary buses could be increased in the future.
