The hearing on Abby Choi's murder case continues at the High Court, with the property owner of the unit where the case took place providing her testimony. She said Choi's ex-father-in-law Kwong Kau earlier inquired whether CCTVs were installed in the residence.
The three defendants, consisting of Choi's ex-husband Alex Kwong, his father Kwong Kau and brother Anthony Kwong were charged with murder and preventing the lawful burial of a body. This as a watch store employee Chan Leong-hang continued to provide his testimony and was cross-examined by Alex Kwong's lawyer.
Chan said he and Alex Kwong were involved in a timepiece transaction, with the proceeds coming from Choi's account.
The former described Alex Kwong as friendly and not prone to violence. The witness also noted he assisted Kwong with paying the management fee for the Kadoorie Hill residence between the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021.
Chan recalled that Kwong Kau visited his watch store to collect a 100,000-dollar cheque. He tried to call Alex Kwong about the incident, at which point Kwong Kau snatched the cheque from his hand saying "Give me the cheque, Alex is my son".
During the afternoon, the prosecution summoned Hui Yan-yan, the owner of the 56B unit in Lung Mei Tsuen, who said she leased her unit on February 2, 2023 to Kwong Kau via a property agent.
The latter had paid her 10,000 dollars in cash.
On the February 5, Hui arranged to meet with Kwong at the unit to sign the lease. She noted she was showing Kwong around the premises when he asked her whether the unit was fitted with CCTVs, to which she said no. Hui also reminded Kwong no cars can be parked outside the unit.
During that conversation, Kwong mentioned the reason for renting the Lung Mei Tsuen unit -- saying he and his wife originally resided in Mong Kok but wanted to allow his son and his family to move into their home after their return from Australia.
