Abby Choi's murder trial continues in Hong Kong's High Court. The three defendants—including Abby Choi’s ex-husband Alex Kwong Kong-chi, ex-father-in-law Kwong Kau, and ex-brother-in-law Anthony Kwong Kong-kit—each face one count of murder and one count of preventing the lawful burial of a body.
Abby Choi’s mother, Cheung Yin-fa, took the stand for the third day to be cross-examined by the defense lawyer representing Anthony Kwong.
Cheung Yin-fa stated that since June 2022, Kwong Kau had consistently opposed selling the Kadoorie Hill property and refused to relocate to Tuen Mun. She noted that Kwong Kau had a hostile attitude and repeatedly threatened to kill Abby Choi.
Cheung Yin-fa also confirmed that she had accompanied Abby Choi to view apartments in Tuen Mun, which were valued at around HK$20 million.
When asked by the defense lawyer whether Abby Choi still had the financial capacity to purchase other properties even without selling the Kadoorie Hill property, Cheung Yin-fa agreed.
She added that the reason for wanting to repossess the Kadoorie Hill unit was due to disputes with Kwong Kau.
