Health chief: HK's medical system sees continued staffing need

Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau reiterates Hong Kong's medical system and services see continuous staffing demand, noting that the administration does not want certain recent remarks to dampen the interest of the city's younger generation in joining the nursing profession.

Referring to comments from a recent phone-in radio programme which lamented how some nursing graduates were unable to secure a job upon graduation, the health chief says magnifying such isolated cases is irresponsible.

He says people must understand that nurse training takes time, and if untruthful remarks today affect recruitment in future, the ultimate victims will be Hong Kong's healthcare system and the general public.
