Over the past two days, police have stepped up enforcement actions against cycling-related violations in the northern New Territories. A total of 9 warnings and 159 summonses were issued.
Police say fatal bicycle accidents across Hong Kong in the first half of the year surged more than 1.25 times, resulting in 9 deaths. The main reasons include cyclists ignoring traffic lights and road signs, riding on sidewalks, illegally carrying passengers and riding side by side.
Since August, police have strengthened related relevant campaign efforts.
