Starting today, a real-name reservation system is being trialed for the High Island Reservoir East Dam to Po Pin Chau hiking route.
The reservation system opened at 11:00 AM on the travel platform Klook, allowing visitors to book spots for September 5 and 6 free of charge. The system was not overly busy this morning, taking under 30 seconds to complete a booking after logging in.
Applicants are required to provide their name, phone number, and identity document details (including passport numbers). Each applicant can reserve up to 5 spots per booking for themselves and their companions.
Authorities previously announced that mandatory reservations will apply on designated dates between September 5 and October 7 for the section from the High Island Reservoir East Dam to Po Pin Chau. There are 4 time slots available each day, with each slot lasting 2 hours and capped at 500 spots—allowing up to 2,000 visitors daily. No penalties for no-shows will be enforced during this trial phase.
