HK's jobless rate stands at 3.7%

The latest unemployment rate remains at 3.7%, according to the latest government figures, but certain sectors are seeing more unemployment.
The Census and Statistics Department says for May to July 2026, the unemployment rate in retail and transportation sectors increased, whereas foundation and superstructure construction works saw a decrease. The total number of unemployed individuals exceeded 145,000, an increase of approximately 6,000 compared to the previous period, while the number of underemployed individuals also rose by around 3,800.
Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun says the local economy continues to expand and is expected to support the overall labour market.
