The World Robot Conference is being held in Beijing over five days, showcasing a wide range of the latest robotic technologies, including humanoid robots.

One mainland Chinese robotics manufacturer says it is developing a large language model specifically for Cantonese.

The company plans to introduce the technology together with its humanoid robots to locations in Hong Kong, including commercial buildings and shopping malls.

A Shenzhen company is showcasing a life-sized humanoid robot designed primarily for emotional companionship.

Its representative says it will work with major business groups in Hong Kong, adding that Hong Kong residents could soon start seeing humanoid robots while shopping or going to work.

Meanwhile, an Anhui company has “trained” a large fleet of robot traffic police.

The robots can independently navigate to designated traffic-control points and automatically identify and photograph traffic violations.

These newly trained “officers” are already “on duty” in more than 30 cities across China.

More than 3,000 exhibits are being showcased at this year’s World Robot Conference, including more than 300 products making their global debut.
