The Customs and Excise Department arrests two mainlanders on suspicion of importing 200 live birds at Lo Wu Control Point. The birds are worth about 20,000 dollars.
Authorities on Tuesday intercepted two mainland travellers, aged 33 and 51, at the arrival hall of the control point. After examination, a batch of suspected illegally imported live birds contained in bird cages was seized from each of their personal baggage. The two passengers were arrested and the case was handed over to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.
