Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday called for efforts to learn from late leader Jiang Zemin's dedication to and profound love for the people.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks at a grand gathering held in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People to commemorate the birth centenary of Jiang.
The late leader once pointed out that the fundamental goal of economic development is to raise people's living standards.
He also placed emphasis on building a moderately prosperous society at a higher level in an all-round way that would benefit over a billion people, Xi said.
Xi also underscored efforts to further adhere to a people-centered approach to development on the new journey and make solid steps in promoting the all-round development of the people and common prosperity for all.
This as other leading figures of the Chinese government also gather for the commemoration on the centenary of Jiang’s birth.
