Israel's renewed strikes in southern Lebanon have claimed at least 11 lives on Saturday in what the military says a response to Hezbollah's major violations of truce, sparking condemnations from Lebanese leaders.

Lebanese authorities report the death of seven people in the southern village of Ansar after Israeli warplanes struck a house on its edge. The second attack on Deir El Zahrani Village killed four others and wounded 17.

These are among the deadliest strikes in the weeks since a US-brokered peace framework deal was reached between Lebanon and Israel in late June.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office says they took action due to Hezbollah fire against Israeli soldiers that led to three injuries in the so-called security zone.

To this, Hezbollah warns the attacks on Lebanon will be met with what they deserve. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun says the latest round of Israeli hostilities sends a "clear message" against the ongoing negotiating track.
