Henan Province has been lashed by persistent heavy downpours ushered in by remnants of Tropical Cyclone Dolphin.

Over two thousand residents have been forced to evacuate.

On Wednesday night in Pingdingshan City, consecutive days of extreme rain and flood discharge from upstream reservoirs caused part of the embankment on the Beiru River to collapse.

Farmland -- flooded. Rescue workers rushed to stop the inundation with sandbags and concrete.

A dam also breached in Zhoukou City last night, forcing more than 700 nearby residents to evacuate.
