The very hot weather warning is still in place, with tempertures expected to

reach 35 degrees in urban areas, and some districts reaching 37 degrees or above.

Temperatures in many districts rose to over 33 degrees this morning, with Yuen Long

reaching 35 degrees and Wong Tai Sin reaching 34 degrees.

The Hong Kong Observatory said a southwesterly airstream will affect Hong Kong in the

next day or two. Maximum temperatures in urban areas will be around 33 to 34 degrees,

and two to three degrees higher in the New Territories.

The public is advised to drink

plenty of water, take precautions against the heat and to avoid rigourous outdoor

activities.

An upper-air disturbance will bring unstable weather and rain showers to Southern

China over the weekend. Early next week, a trough of low pressure will gradually affect

the northern part of the South China sea.
