A man who beat his girlfriend to death with a rod after claiming to have assisted her with a weight loss programme and subsequently abandoning her body on a trolley, was found guilty of manslaughter and preventing the lawful burial of a body. He was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.
The incident happened on the 29th of April in 2022, when defendant Ng Ka-sing, who was 25 years old at the time, was found transporting the body of woman via a trolley in Yuen Long's Galore Garden. He claimed the woman was his girlfriend Yip Tsz-ching.
Ng said he was told by his girlfriend's god-sister to make his partner undergo an intensive "weight-loss" regime, as Yip weighed over 200 pounds at the time of her death.
The autopsy report revealed that Yip suffered from extensive injuries across her body, including a major wound to her head caused by a hard object as well as burn marks on her skin.
Judge Juliana Barnes said reports indicated Ng has below-average intelligence. After considerations were made regarding Ng's remorse over the incident as well as his mental condition, authorities sentenced him to three years and nine months in prison.
