Former lawmaker suspected of shooting 1 dead in Bangkok

Thai authorities arrest a former lawmaker suspected of

opening fire outside offices of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization in Bangkok.

Police say the chief executive of the organisation Thongchai Yenprasert died from critical wounds at a hospital after being shot in the face and neck, while his driver was shot in the arm and is in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as Chalong Riewraeng, admitted

to the shooting and the motive is believed to be personal.

The suspect told reporters he was arguing with the victim over money.

He said he followed Thongchai to his car before drawing his weapon.

He says he did not intend to shoot Thongchai, but the driver also drew a gun and pointed at him, prompting him to open fire.
