District consultation session for Five-Year Plan and Policy Address

The government hosts a second district consultation session for the city's first Five-Year Plan and the 2026 Policy Address. Chief Executive John Lee says the administration will announce the blueprint for the plan in September at the earliest.

Chief Executive John Lee and senior officials arrive at Kowloon Tong Government Primary School for the district consultation. About 120 members of the public attended the two-hour event, raising topics such as Hong Kong youth's opportunities and talent attraction.

This man says young people hope to transform themselves through working in high-value added industries. Lee states the government plans to create more new job opportunities for the youth and help local SMEs to elevate.

One resident suggests Lee establish a Building Maintenance Department to supervise renovation projects in Hong Kong. He says the manpower of the proposed bureau can be deployed from the Fire Services Department, the Labour Department, the Buildings Department and the Urban Renewal Authority. The Chief Executive says the proposal is "worth exploring."

Speaking to the media after the session, Lee says the administration has received 13,000 suggestions for the Five-Year Plan and more than 8,500 for the Policy Address since the consultation period was launched in June.

Separately, he mentions nearly 92% of Wang Fuk Court owners have signed the Letter of Acceptance for the government's acquisition plan, while more than 65% have completed the sale and purchase agreement.
