Urology specialist Yip Wai-chun has been accused of professional misconduct after he allegedly prescribed a new drug for a mainland patient who suffered from lung cancer. The patient later died. Yip is being inquired by the Medical Council.
Yip arrives at the Medical Council for his hearing. The doctor was accused of prescribing "Keytruda," a new drug that was not allowed to be used for treating small cell lung cancer at the time, for his 53-year-old patient. And the doctor was said not to have met with the patient before the prescription.
The patient suffered from hemoptysis after taking the medication and passed away due to acute liver failure.
