Following the incident, a large number of detectives arrived at Chiu Sin House in Upper Wong Tai Sin Estate to investigate, and cordoned off one of the elevators.
Police received a report around 7:30 AM that a man aged around 60 had fallen from height at Chiu Sin House; paramedics arriving at the scene certified him dead on site.
Police later discovered a 26-year-old man inside an elevator at Chiu Sin House with multiple bodily injuries, who was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for emergency treatment.
It is understood that the man who fell to his death had a history of mental illness, and the victim lived on the floor above him, having moved in recently. The deceased had previously argued with the former tenant over noise issues and was extremely sensitive to noise. After the victim moved in, the deceased had also complained to the management office about noise, though he had not reported it to the police.
