Cockroach party leads protest in New Delhi against education ministry

The movement, spearheaded by the youth-led Cockroach movement, is calling for the resignation of the education minister after allegations medical school entrance exam papers being leaked and sold surfaced.

Thousands gather Monday, clashing with police as they breached security barricades in a designated protest site in central New Delhi.

The incident marks one of the most serious confrontations in the movement's campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government.

Earlier Monday, Cockroach Janta Party spokesperson Saurav Das says party representatives had a 10-minute meeting with the Health Minister JP Nadda, who confirm internal actions will be taken to address protester concerns.

Das, who met Nadda, said he presented the protesters' demands, including the immediate resignation or removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Senior leaders in Modi's government have taken a hard line against the movement.

Pradhan has accused the protesters of acting against the nation, while other ministers have acknowledged students' concerns but insisted there is no need for talks.
